Mike's Corner
Tibbits from Mike Wiener on rules & other information pertaining to golf.
When dropping a ball, it is not a throw into the fairway, it is a drop, and the rule is you drop below the knee.
If there's a rules question on a particular hole, always ask your playing partners for advice. If everyone in your foursome can't come to an agreement, then and only then, play 2 balls in on the hole. Where you may have to drop, and then the second ball based on a rule that they are unsure of.
In Match play, if a player is playing from the White tees and the opponent from the Gold or Red tees, the player that won the prior hole should tee off first with honors.
In Match play, if you give a putt and your opponent acknowledges, then what happens next is immaterial... your opponent can take as many practice putts as desired... If your opponent, however, does NOT acknowledge you have given the putt, then your opponent takes the responsibility of what happens next.
