Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
What if I can't commit to playing that coming weekend until late in the week, can I still play?
The Association reserves prime tee times between 8:00am and 9:30am every weekend & holiday during the golf season. On Thursday, prior to the weekend, we notify Pinecrest how many tee times we can fill, and return the rest. This way, Pinecrest can then fill those returned tee times without losing revenue. This is the arrangement we have with Pinecrest. If you sign-up to play after Wednesday, we cannot guarantee you a spot, but we do try to find a way to get you in. This, as you can imagine, is a difficult challenge since prime tee times are so valuable. The lesson here is if you want to play then sign up early in the week to guarantee your spot.
Must I pay the $10 game fee every time I play on the Weekends?
Our mission is to promote a fun & competitive atmosphere and the weekend games are structured to be both. Our history has shown, every member, no matter the skill level, has an equal opportunity to collect some winnings in any given outing.
If I have to leave right after golf, how do I know if I won anything?
Results are posted on the website a few days after the event. Check the website and if you won some money, you can collect the next time you signup to play. Please note, all money collected that day is Pay'd out. If, for whatever reason, you are not there to collect, your winnings are recorded, and the money stored for later retrieval.
What if it's raining outside, how do I cancel?
Golf is played in all weather conditions. If the conditions are too severe, first step is to call the club. If the course is open, then call or text any of the committee members assigned to play that day and let them know your intentions. Weather patterns change quickly so the general rule is if the course is open then come to the course prepared to play.
What if I'm not feeling well and I want to cancel?
Call or text any of our committee members assigned to play that day and let them know your intentions. Keep in mind, most of our members prefer playing in 4-somes. So, if you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible to allow us an opportunity to re-balance the pairings.
What if I'm late for my tee time?
If you know you are going to be late, call or text any of our committee members assigned to play that day and indicate your status and ETA (estimated time of arrival). Every attempt will be made to accommodate your situation but if you arrive after the last group tees off, then it's up to you to catch up and make up any holes not played.
When I signed up, I put in a request in to play with another Member. Can that be accommodated?
In most cases, your request will be honored but keep in mind, the association is a community of like-minded golf enthusiasts and one of our key benefits is the opportunity to meet & play with all our members, not just a select few.
Can I bring a guest?
Yes, guests are welcomed. When you sign-up please indicate in the special request section your intention to bring a guest along with their name and skill level. This helps with balancing the pairings. Guest can participate only in our Birdie Pool. Please note, members get first access to all open tee time slots. If in the event we can't accommodate your request, we will inform you as soon as possible. Also, if you continue to bring the same guest then please encourage your friend to join the association. This helps with building our community.
In the course of play, I come across a situation that requires a ruling. What should I do?
Golf rules can be tricky especially since we play to USGA, Pinecrest and Association rules combined. If not sure how to play your next shot, don't hesitate to ask one of your playing partners, especially one of our more seasoned members. I'm sure they can guide you to the right solution.
I want to move to the Gold Tee Box. How do I declare my intention?
If you reached the age of 65, the guideline we use is a combination of your age plus your handicap from the white tees must meet a target of 85 or greater. For example, a player who reaches the age of 65 and has a handicap of 20 or higher meets the new requirement. If, however, a player who is 70 and carries a handicap of 11 still must wait. Please note, we do make exceptions and if you feel you would like to play from the gold tee box for whatever reason, please bring that to our attention. New this year, if you reach the age of 75 and struggle with some of the more difficult holes at Pinecrest, a combination of your age plus your handicap from the gold tee box meet a target of 100 or greater, you can request to go to the red tee box. We call this category "Super Seniors".
Match Play Tournaments will be played at 80% handicap, why?
The committee investigated how match play tournaments were run at various public & private courses in the area. What we learned is most match play tournaments conducted at these places were run at 80% handicap, so in 2024, the decision was made to move to 80%.
